Mental Wellness
Mental health is an integral component of overall well-being, and it is just as important as physical health. The Public Health Agency of Canada characterizes mental illnesses as conditions that bring about changes in one’s thinking, mood, or behavior, often leading to significant distress and impairments in daily functioning. Mental illness can manifest in various forms, such as mood disorders, schizophrenia, anxiety disorders, personality disorders, eating disorders, and problem gambling. Substance dependency can unfortunately often be present along with mental health challenges.
It is crucial to understand that struggling with mental health challenges is a common experience, and you are not alone in facing these issues. It is important to reach out for help when you need it. There are resources and support systems available to assist you in navigating through difficult times. Remember that seeking help is a sign of strength, an act of courage and hope, not weakness, and there are compassionate individuals and organizations ready to offer guidance, understanding, and care. Each of us are deserving of support and recovery, and there is hope for brighter days ahead.
